About this course

Digital Desk: Operations Digital Information Management is an online self-learning course which will provide you with a full understanding on how to manage digital information in OCB, how to identify the different types of files, documents and other records, and how to use guidelines, tools and digital platforms.   

It has been ideated by the Operations IKM (Information and Knowledge management) unit. This is mandatory only for Mission and RST/Cell Teams owners but recommended for field and RST/Cell staff as well as HQ staff needing access to operational information. 

It will introduce you to Information and knowledge management, the benefits, platforms and roles. You’ll be able to navigate and use the new Teams solution for the field and the OPS department, add, find, co-edit and share files into it. 

An extra module is available for Mission and RST-Cell Teams Owners and Admin to learn how to manage permissions in the Mission and RST-Cell workspaces, add new users to the correct permission group, change document or folder access permanently, etc. 

Target audience

Although mandatory for Mission and RST/Cell Digital Desk owners, it is highly recommended for field and RST/Cell staff, as well as HQ staff with a computer requiring access to operational information and Digital Desk. 

This course is also open to HQ staff, who need regular access to operational information.

Learning objectives

At the end of this course participants will be able to: 

  • Describe what IKM is (records, knowledge, etc.) and its benefits 
  • Choose which MSF platform or tools to use according to the scope/needs and the phase of the document lifecycle  
  • Manage information (create, share, co-edit, save, publish, archive, destroy/retain) according to document lifecycle and to the folder and permissions structure designed 
  • Navigate in the new Teams solution for the field or the OPS department  
  • Add, find, co-edit and share files in Teams/SharePoint 

For Mission RST/Cell Owners and Admins: 

  • Identify the roles and responsibilities of Owners and Admins  
  • Add new users to the correct permission group  
  • Change document or folder access permanently

About this course

This onboarding is meant for MSF OCB international staff joining the interventions in and around the war in Ukraine. It consists of videos addressing the context of the Ukraine Crisis, and a selection of e-learning courses on some fundamental concepts that apply in this context.

This onboarding does not replace in-person briefings, but serves as a foundation to get on board.

Target audience

This resource is aimed at MSF OCB international staff joining MSF activities in or around Ukraine.

About this course

This introduction to Duty of Care sets the frame for looking at risks MSF staff are exposed to through their work. This introduction outlines fundamental concepts of duty of care. It paves the way for more detailed tutored DoC discussions at various levels of training.

Target audience

This course is addressed at anybody involved in staff-related risk analysis.

Learning objectives

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • define duty of care, 
  • explain the transversality of risk analysis through 4 pilars of DoC, and 
  • explain the 3 phases related to risk exposure and management.

About this course

Introduction to International Humanitarian Law (IHL) - International Armed Conflict (IAC) is dedicated to first-line field staff, as an introduction to the legal frame that protects their activities in times of International Armed Conflict (IAC). It is an introduction to some key aspects of International Humanitarian Law (IHL), in the hope it will help when staff in the field face specific situations in times of IAC.

Target audience

This course is dedicated to first-line field staff. Coordinators would still be part of the target group if they have not had access to basics of IHL.

Learning objectives

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Define an IAC
  • Identify parties to conflict and the various status that apply (combatant, civilian…)
  • Identify who is protected under IHL, under what conditions, and actions that would cause loss of protection in a context of IAC

  • Sources and key principles of IHL
  • Protection of medical care, conditions and loss of protection
  • IDP and refugee status, what to anticipate when caring for patients during IAC

Certification

A Tembo badge will be awarded upon completion of the course. It will require completion of activities and a passing grade (80%) in the final quiz.

This course is open to anyone in MSF interested in the topic of IHL. It is therefore accessible for self-enrolment.
