About the course

BASIC LR for COVID-19 Nurses (Basic Assessment and Support in Intensive Care in Low Resource Settings) is an eLearning course which covers the ABCDE approach, the use of PPE, and the specificity of care in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Target audience 

Nurses managing critical ill patients or COVID-19 patients in MSF settings.

OCB.

Learning objectives

The main learning outcome of this course is for course participants to safely and correctly manage a patient with COVID-19. At the end of this course participants will be able to recognise and manage critically ill patients in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

List of contents

This course will take you through specificities of COVID-19 patients, namely:

  1. COVID-19 and Infection Prevention Control (IPC)
  2. Pre-screening and ABCDE introduction
  3. Airway management 
  4. Breathing management (inclued classification COVID-19 patient)
  5. Circulation 
  6. Disability
  7. Exposure (including palliative care and prevention bedrest complications)

Certification 

This eLearning course has been designed by the BASIC Collaboration (Chinese University of Hong-Kong) and MSF. We provide certification upon completion.
