About the Course

From soon after birth, all newborns should be assessed for the presence of danger signs that may indicate serious illness requiring prompt management. Babies should also be screened for risk of neonatal sepsis and hypoglycaemia. 

Learning Objectives

By taking this module, you would be able to:

  • Identify a newborn with serious abnormalities or danger signs,
  • Assess and manage a newborn at risk of neonatal sepsis,
  • Assess and manage a newborn at risk of hypoglycemia.

The module is intended for nurses, midwives, clinical officers and medical doctors caring for newborns in MSF projects.
