OPD Module 5: Cough and difficulty breathing

About the Course

This Module is part of the OPD program organized in 9 Modules.

Respiratory diseases are one of the most common causes of consultation in primary care.

They can range from common upper-respiratory viral infections to severe pneumonia with respiratory distress.

It is very important to identify severe cases quickly to provide prompt and effective care.

It is also very important to differentiate between the cases that require antibiotic treatment from those for which antibiotics are not necessary; we call this a rational use of antibiotics, and it is a key step in the fight against antibiotic resistance.

In this module, we will work through a range of differential diagnoses for this syndrome and discuss how to perform an effective patient assessment.
