About the course
The BTC aims to increase the technical and cross-professional Biomed knowledge and skills of MSF logisticians. It is an intersectional course with facilitators and participants across all MSF sections. It is taught face-to-face in English and in French.
Target audience
IRFFG 6 to 15. Biomedical technicians, specialists, and managers. Log Generalists in charge of a biomedical park.
Validation
Validation per section of their allocation of places.
Learning objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the operating principles and use of standard medical equipment.
- Manage the project's medical equipment, with maintenance planning, record keeping, and inventory management. • Perform preventive maintenance, basic repairs, and fault diagnosis on the equipment listed in the training content.
- Know the situations in which it is necessary to seek the help of the biomedical support of their section or at the supply centre, the intervention of an external company, or specialized assistance.
- Become familiar with the specifics of laboratory and other diagnostic equipment.
- Know how to set up a maintenance contract with approved companies.
- To be more proactive in med / log communication around the definition of medical equipment needs.

- Strategy and management tools for a biomedical service integrating the notion of the life cycle of an equipment as well as maintenance planning.
- Technical training in basic preventive and corrective maintenance for the following equipment: Glostavent Helix anaesthesia ventilator, TBM autoclave, Surgical / anaesthesia aspirators, oxygen concentrators, syringe pumps, infusion pump, nebulizers, defibrillators, monitors anaesthesia / intensive care, pulse oximeters, electrosurgical unit …
- Maintenance policy and documents relating to electricity (earthing, safety and protection).
- Assistance to users (medical staff).
- Medical introduction to POCUS, Radiology, OT and Anaesthesia, and Laboratory..
- Medical introduction to infection control and personal protection in his activity as a biomedical technician.
Certification
After successful completion of this course, participants will receive a certificate and a digital badge.

Enrolment is by invitation following successful application. OCP as host section will send learner email list to enroll participants.
