Tembo course configuration best practices

About this course

This course is about the best practices for configuring courses in Tembo. The leaning approach consists of a self-study of a Best Practices Guide, a workshop to explore the content of the Guide and an application exercise to consolidate the knowledge. The course was created by the OCA L&D Department to get more people in the team using best practice to set up courses, whether this is their main role or a one-off task. 

Target audience 

The target audience is any OCA L&D team member who wants to do this task. Knowledge of instructional design is desirable but not essential 

Duration 

Participants are expected to commit 15h of their time over 4 weeks 

3 to 5 hour to read and study the guide 

2 hours for the workshop 

6 to 8 hours for the application exercise 

Learning objectives 

On completion of the guide learners will be able to... 

  • Describe the elements that make up an OCA course. 
  • Differentiate between activities and resources. 
  • List the activities and resources available in Tembo that are commonly used in OCA courses. 
  • Identify the sources of images, icons and illustrations. 
  • Select/create the correct SharePoint folder for storing the course content. 

On completion of the workshop learners will be able to... 

  • Apply the Tembo colour code according to the course category 
  • Set up course settings, course completion and badge 
  • Embed YouTube videos in Tembo 
  • Create badges and certificates. 

On completion of the application exercise, learners will be able to... 

  • Configure a small course in Tembo with a given content (1e-learning module (SCORM-like), 2 documents, 1 page, 1 quiz and 1 feedback, 1 forum, course structure, cover image and a badge) and track the time taken to complete it.

Methodology 

The Leaning approach consists of a self-study document (the Guide), a workshop session to explore the content of the Guide and a practical application exercise to consolidate the knowledge. It can be done at the learner's own pace, except for the workshop which is done on a fixed date.

Evaluation 

An overall assessment of participant’s performance and successful completion of the guide self-study and the workshop will be based on the results of the application exercise. The assessment will consider: the time taken to complete the course configuration (in hours), the configuration settings for activities and resources, and the look and feel of the course in line with the best practices described in the guide. 

Certification 

After successful completion of this course, participants will receive a a digital badge awarded by MSF OCA .

Enrolment 

Learners will be enrolled via an invitation to participate sent by the Learning Solution team to all OCA L&D team members.

OC Validation

This course is validated for use by OCA L&D staff and L&D Facilitators.
