ABOUT THE COURSE
Human Resources Management in Hospitals is an OCB tutored course – associating self-learning and 2 virtual classes – which aims at improving HR managers’ understanding of the specificities of HR management in hospital settings, and their efficiency in dealing with the specific challenges of hospitals, contributing to quality of care.
TARGET AUDIENCE
HR managers working in hospital settings or who have worked in hospital settings in the past 6 months and are committed to work in more hospital settings with MSF.
DURATION
Participants are expected to dedicate 10h to this course over 2.5 weeks, including self-learning and virtual classes.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon course completion, participants will be able to:
- identify the different type of hospitals concepts in MSF OCB portfolio
- understand hospital management in general and the role of the HR as a strategic business partner.
- reflect on how to work collaboratively with other departments in hospital, help in building and understanding rosters, understanding other department’s needs,(Nursing, pharmacy, auxiliary services…)
- identify key components of an HR strategy in a hospital setting
- lead the HR strategic workforce planning and organisational design using the associated tools

METHODOLOGY
Tutored training with a flipped classroom approach.
Online self-learning activities which prepare participants to the live classes.
Participants will complete pre-work – including work on their own field experience – and submit it before the classes.
Classes will be based on case studies and additional knowledge and experience shared by the SME facilitator and among participants.
EVALUATION
Completion criteria on Tembo to ensure all interactive videos and corresponding activities have been completed.
CERTIFICATION
Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded a badge and a certificate.
ENROLMENT
This tutored course will be announced a few months before its organisation. Following an application process, participants will be selected by a selection committee and informed of the outcome of the selection. Shortly after, LnD referents will provide successful applicants with an enrolment key for them to self-enrol.
