Initial Budget and Budget Monitoring

About the Course

Welcome to this training about Initial Budget and Budget Monitoring.

It includes different situations we face in the field when defining our initial budget and/ or monitoring our approved budget and operations' implementation.

It aims to help you understand and improve the budget related processes within MSF. You will be able to analyze our operational activities and needed financial & HR resources, to work as a team and to identify main roles within the process.

TARGET AUDIENCE

It’s addressed to all MSF OCBA field staff:

•First missioners FINCOs, Finance Managers.

•All positions involved in budget planning and monitoring exercise.

•Anyone not directly involved in budget planning and monitoring but that may require to understand what a budget is (i.e.: Finance Assistants, ACMAs, Accountants, Cashiers Logistic, Medical, FIELDCO or HOM Assistants, ACMA, Deputy positions, etc.).

•Anyone interested in learning about the budgeting process in MSF.

DURATION

Approximately 8-10 hours

Learning Objectives

General Objectives:

You will be able to: 

•Work with the whole team when defining an initial budget.

•Carry out a monthly follow-up of our activities and related financial figures in order to be able to react and take decisions on time.

•Work as a team and communicate budget issues among the Project and Capital coordination teams.

Initial Budget:

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

•Build an initial budget in line with the mission operational activities.

•Interact with the different team members and support each other when translating the Mission Annual Plan into financial resources.

•Analyze how operational decision changes could impact the required financial resources.

METHODOLOGY

This is a self-learning course which includes real scenarios presented through illustrations and comics.

The characters involved will help you to analyze key messages and aspects about Initial Budget and Budget Monitoring and maybe, they will help you visualize some real meetings and situations in the Field.

Besides illustrations and comics, you will find key messages, points for your reflection and one quiz by block.  

EVALUATION  

To pass this course learners will have to complete all the activities. 

CERTIFICATION 

After successful completion of this course, participants will receive a certificate and a digital badge awarded by MSF OCBA.
