About this course
In MSF projects, the use of medical oxygen (O₂) is a routine and vital component of patient care. Given its critical role and associated risks, Oxygen Safety Awareness is a fundamental training course for all staff involved in the handling, storage, or administration of medical oxygen.
This training serves to:
- Highlight the specific hazards related to oxygen use,
- Enhance overall safety awareness among team members,
- Communicate essential good practices aimed at minimizing incidents and ensuring safe operation in both medical and logistical settings.
Target audience
This training is intended for all MSF staff and staff from MSF partner organizations (e.g., MOH) who are involved in the handling, operation, or management of oxygen-generating equipment and oxygen cylinders.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Medical staff administering oxygen therapy (doctors, nurses, anesthetists)
- Biomedical technicians and logisticians responsible for the setup, maintenance, or troubleshooting of oxygen systems
- Pharmacy and warehouse staff managing oxygen cylinder storage and supply
- Any other personnel working in proximity to oxygen equipment or involved in its transportation or use.

This course can be started at any time and takes about 45 minutes to complete.

Evaluation
To pass this course, learners will need to fully complete the course content and receive 80% success on the self-testing quiz.
Certification
After successful completion of this course, participants will receive a certificate and a digital badge.
