HR Management Course

About the course 

This course will support you to become a HR Manager in country programs. It aims to equip you with the appropriate skills, knowledge and attitudes to manage the HR function at project level in country programs. It supports you with people management skills, to advice key stakeholders in the implementation of HR processes and with tools to proactively execute the staff administration. 
This is a blended learning course, featuring self-paced eLearning modules, followed by virtual webinars, and then post course assignments to support you putting your learning into practice. The course involves approx. 8 hours of pre-course work before attending.

Target audience

This is a course restricted to OCA staff with HR Management responsibilities, working on a country assignment in the following positions: HRM, HR-FIN project manager. PAMs might find it useful to attend, although it is not the primary audience of this course.

Duration

Participants are expected to commit to 52h for their time over 8 weeks. This course is divided into 6 modules. The teaching method is composed by self-guided learning activities and webinars. 

Learning objectives 

By end of the course, participants will be able to: 
  • describe the main role and responsibilities as HRM
  • led by example demonstrating MSF ethical principles and leadership values 
  • execute proactively staff administration regarding contracts’ management, leaves and overtime management, salary preparation, payroll checks that enables the project’s functional running of activities in country programs. 
  • advise and support other’s key stakeholders in the operational decision making from HR perspective, and report back to HRCO by articulating specific operational needs 
  • advise and support others on how to apply the L&D matrix and MSF performance management tool

Module 6: Your role in fostering a Learning Culture 
LND matrix and how to supports LND initiatives 
MSF OCA Performance Management Tool Methodology Self-guided learning as well as face to face work, with individual and group assignments. 

Evaluation 

Throughout the courses, participants will be asked to complete activities in Tembo environment, as part of the learning activities of the course. Pre & Post assessment will be available. 

Certification 

After successful completion of this course, participants will receive a certificate and a digital badge awarded by MSF OCA. 

Requirements/Prerequisites 

This is a course restricted to OCA staff with HR Management responsibilities, working on a country assignment in the following positions: HRM, HR-FIN project manager. PAMs might find it useful to attend, although it is not the primary audience of this course. 

Enrolment 

This is a course upon selection, and restricted to Human Resources Management’s role. The application window is announced via email by the OCA HQ L&D Officers. The recommendation letter for this course needs to be written by the Head of Mission for those in mission, or Career Manager for those in-between missions.
