About the Course

This is the course unit 7 of the Fellowship in Medical Humanitarian Action: Facilitation of operational research.

In this course unit, you will develop your competencies and skills to facilitate operational research (OR) within your project/mission in order to better understand operational constraints, improve program performance, and/or contribute to advocacy initiatives.

Enrolment

This course unit is only available to the participants to the Fellowship course of Medical Humanitarian Action. To be enrolled in this course, you need to be selected by your OC. The selection is done once per year. Please contact your pool managers, development advisors and/or HRcos.

At the end of this course unit, you will be able to:

  • Explain the organization of Operational Research in MSF (definition, principles, criteria, process)
  • Discuss the identification and formulation of a relevant and actionable research question
  • Explain ethical challenges related to OR
  • Develop a plan for facilitation implementation
  • Assess the OR profile of your context through identifying opportunities and challenges
  • Interpret OR results into activities aiming for policy and practice change
