Always been a concern to me why the MSF MHPSS policy doesn't consciously take into consideration the need for team mates to support staff beyond the PSU. Most at times colleagues are in need of support first hand but the PSU seems very distant from them. The wordings of the policy however discourages the provision of psychosocial support to colleagues except in real emergencies and adds that even when this is the case the counsellor or psychologist has to inform the PSU as soon as possible and discontinue the support.

I am of the opinion that rather than discourage, MHPSS practitioners at every level should be trained and armed with the skills to manage and provide support to colleagues under strict guidelines of confidentiality and when the colleagues feel secured while the PSU can continue to provide both supervision and direct support to the teams on the field along side all other staff

It will be interesting for me to get other colleagues opinions on this subject after going through the course
