In my experience, it is posible to have a particular leadership style for a particular people or group of people. Usually, it will depends of the environment/religion/politics/personalities or even the context we are exposed. 
I believe, a balance between coahing, suportive and directive leadership could be the perfect mix for any context. It could thing make works.
