Field ICT (English)


General Objective:

The participants will have an in-depth overview of MSF-OCBA IT, which aims to empower the ICT focal points and users and prepare for ICT tasks in Emergencies.


Target Group:

ICT Officers as they hold the ICT responsibility in the missions


Time Required:

  • Between 5 and 10 hours. 


By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Understand MSF Mission and Principles. Understand the MSF-OCBA operational structure. Be able to define the FICT unit inside MSF-OCBA.
  • Choose the best connectivity type to implement in MSF-OCBA missions and new project sites.
  • Establish a point-to-point internet connection from one site to the other.
  • Understand roles, responsibilities and primary documentation on Information Security in MSF-OCBA
  • Identify Information Security related setups
  • Know the role of ICT officers in Security Incidents
  • Configure the Meraki network devices.
  • Configure and troubleshoot all Radio equipment used in MSF-OCBA Missions.
  • Set up a complete radio network.
  • Understand the components of a VSAT and define steps to detect and solve VSAT-related issues.
  • Choose the most suitable setup for emergencies/interventions
  • Reduce identification and resolution time for common issues.
  • Know how to help users to get the most from the system by offering training.
  • Enrol mobile devices on Intune Platform for Mobile Devices Management.
  • Navigate through the ZENIT platform and utilize it as a Knowledge Base

Pre-requisites:

  • Good command of the language
  • Commitment to training other users at mission level after completion of the training


Learning Approach:

  • Online and F2F sessions (Hybrid Model) with a high focus on hands-on training (learning by doing)


Evaluation

To pass this course, learners must complete and submit an assignment graded by the course tutor, and complete all the required tasks. 


Certification

After completing the online course and completing the F2F course in Kampala, participants will receive a course completion certificate.
